Ali Pasha Bridge - Watching Them Lead

By midday on our second day here, my legs felt like jello. The heat added up to the exhaustion.

Aidan's and Sofia’s indomitable spirit and energy constantly surprise me. If it weren’t for their enthusiasm and strong wish to walk over the Ali Pasha Bridge, I would have stopped at the viewpoint, just viewing the Bridge from a distance.

The view from the Bridge overlooking Mount Nemërçkë and the Drino Valley during dusk, tinged

orange, was resplendent.

I would have missed out on this splendid view if it wasn’t for the kids.

Charlie has always been great at letting the kids lead on outdoor adventures, and adventuring with them.

I have become a lot more conservative in general after having kids, especially when they are around. As they grew older, we were able to gradually take up what we used to do again (like backpacking), also involving the kids.

Watching them push boundaries with unbridled enthusiasm, I hope, will rekindle my willingness to take risks and embrace adventure again like old times.

Funny how parenting quietly downgrades you into your most boring self, and then you spend years trying to revitalize your old risk-taking self back out. I hope it doesn’t take too long before my arthritis kicks in.
